Outside of Touge Japanese driving is very circuit based, there is one line - the fast aggressive line. The fasted way through the circuit is always the goal for the lead driver.
The lead driver should be looking for 100% perfection and precision with their lead run and trying to navigate through the circuit as quickly as they possible can. It’s the chase drivers job to keep up, tuck their nose in when they can and make sure they don’t cause contact when the lead driver is transitioning.
On the touge, the faster drivers, when in chase, tuck into the “pocket” to let the lead driver know they’re there and apply pressure. The fast lead drivers always leave the chase drivers searching for their tail lights as they wind away through the mountain pass corners.
